First, it addresses a topic, the devotional use of praying in tongues, which is rarely addressed by contemporary Christian authors. Second, while it reads like a devotional, it is, in fact, nothing short of being a theological treatise on the subject. It is thorough and comprehensive as well as laced with a number of personal stories and illustrations which introduce and/or reinforce many of the teaching points. While many believers may not be comfortable in discussing this subject or exercising this gift, it is exactly for this reason that ‘Hidden In Plain View’ is such an important work. Those who read it will be blessed as they come into greater understanding and use of this wonderful gift God has given for the empowerment and strengthening of His children.
-Ross Gill
New YorkRoss Gillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00285100573141411270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8958795439333288213.post-50871026009525863292013-01-06T20:25:22.250-05:002013-01-06T20:25:22.250-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.Ross Gillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00285100573141411270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8958795439333288213.post-37769917658477997322013-01-01T16:07:24.270-05:002013-01-01T16:07:24.270-05:00I have read many books over my life thus far and v...I have read many books over my life thus far and very few of those books, when finished, left me with a nagging in the pit of my stomach to do what the book recommends. I imagined one of those fancy fountains you see that has a pump so that it recirculates and just keeps continuously flowing. I wondered if we were to be fountains. I know our bodies are temples. 1 Cor 3:16 'Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?' Where better to have a fountain then a temple? It seems that they should go hand in hand. As I searched I found Psalm 36:9 "For with You is the fountain of life; In your light we see light.' God's fountain of life has to be the Spirit, and that Spirit dwells in us. Jesus tells us that we are fountains in John 4:14 ""but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life." We truly are fountains but we have no recirculating pump. Our annointing is everlasting, eternal, with the bright lights of God for all to see. We Christians need to test ourselves daily. As you stated, "If any person is not personally committed to Jesus the head of the visible body of Christ - the Church," and my interpretation is: we are vulnerable to the "Judas Bug" and the lies of the devil. If I leave the door to sin open in my life just a crack, as Luke says sooner or later the devil will kick that door wide open.

Luke 11:24-26 (NKJV) 24 When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, "I will return to my house from which I came." 25 "and when he comes, he finds it swept and put in order. 26 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked then himself, and they enter and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first."

The word of God in Matthew 24:13 says, "But who endures to the end shall be saved." or as Pastor stated for our understanding, "Salvation is a marathon race."

Finally, thanks for the revelation in your conclusion comparing Judas to Peter. This is how I received your words; Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss for gain in life. He followed satan to death. Peter cursed and denied Jesus out of fear of death. He ran to Jesus and found life. HE is able to take care of those kids and if we keep HIS commandments HE can use us. The commandment that Yeshua reiterated from Deuteronomy and Leviticus, saying the greatest is loving HIM with all your heart, soul, and mind, and the second being to love your neighbor as yourself encompasses all of Torah and the Prophets that preached a repentance to Torah. How can you love your fellow man in a godly way when you don't love the God you claim enough to keep HIS instruction; especially when HE said, "If you love ME keep MY commandments!"

"And then waxes furious when he is obviously (both theologically and intellectually) put in his place. Is that all he could come with after the beautiful blog celebrating the study of the Ten Commandments…to start a flame war about Sunday Sabbath?

Oh, I am sure the Lamb of God who was slain for our sins is definitely going to cast two thousand years worth of Christians into the pits of hell because they got the wrong day. Jesus fulfilled the law and we find the law in Him. I am typing this from a small office in Mzuzu, Malawi…where little children die every single day for lack of water, food, and medicine…1 million orphans in a population of 12 million…700,000 children dying of AIDS…and this guy sits in his chair, surfing the internet looking for Godly men to debate with. And then waxes furious when he is obviously (both theologically and intellectually) put in his place. I find it ironic that his avatar is Banner…the name of the Dr. who turns into the Hulk when he gets angry!

RRRRRRR… theology wrong… Hulk SMASH!

Sorry… I know that is mean.

Still… this kind of thinking is right in there with the brood of vipers…

Telling Jesus it was wrong to heal on the Sabbath,
for plucking and eating on the Sabbath,
for daring to suggest He could forgive sins,
trying to trick him with questions about the law,
condemning him for touching lepers and the dead (both punishable by death)
and even the stoning the adulteress.

I guess when He flat out corrects the Torah’s law of an eye for an eye, tooth for tooth he wasn’t pointing out how it was misinterpreted and wrong? So…if we are breaking the Torah by celebrating the Lords Day and the Sabbath on Sunday… I guess we are in good company as they accused Jesus of breaking the Torah all the time. Thus has it always been with legalists…the miss the spirit of the law in the letters of it.

By the way…just throwing this out there…but does the Torah ever use the word “Saturday”… that would be really funny…um since it is named after the Roman god, Saturn. God made the Shabbat… but which days is the 6th and which day is the 7th has been under debate for too long for me to add any value to the discussion. These provincial and archaic delineations of time and space and days of the week… really… you think that the God who sits outside of the space-time continuum is really saying it must be on a day of the Roman calendar??? It is about keeping the seventh day holy, man… what is wrong with you? And yes… Monday starts my week and Sunday ends it.

I just hope that if he happens to find a man gathering sticks on a Saturday morning he will find the grace needed to not stone him to death… as the Torah commands. Or…horror of horrors…I hope he is not wearing a shirt made from a blend of two different fabrics as the Torah is also quite clear es ist forboten.

Look…there may be an elaborate exegesis of the scriptures I point out. Our beloved brethren in different revelations of our faith always have wonderful explanations of why they are “right” in their interpretations. I had to write quite a few of them myself when my major in college was theology. Unfortunately, they get so caught up in the plot… they miss the plain truth…the main truth. Jesus loves us, died for our sins, rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and will come again in Glory to judge the quick and the dead. Maybe, we should spend less time going to the blogs of people we don’t know to start flame wars and focus on our own ministry… huh, bub?

Oh well. What can I say, Pastor Engelhardt? I loved your blog and found great wisdom and truth in it. As for me, I won’t say much more than that. I can’t convince anyone of anything… only the Holy Spirit can and I pray He does in all of our lives God knows I need it as I am wrong about a lot too, but He has corrected me and continues to correct me all the time. OK… back to healing the sick, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting those in prison, loving on the fatherless and the widow and all that good stuff my pastor exhorts me to do in accordance with God’s will.

Shalom!

Paul MooreAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8958795439333288213.post-60434098535258704912008-04-29T14:24:00.000-04:002008-04-29T14:24:00.000-04:00There is one Church Father and HIS Name is Yahweh!...There is one Church Father and HIS Name is Yahweh! It is the Almighty sovereign Elohim!

When you stand before HIM what will you say? Well God, I felt it was better to respect the men who are called church fathers, even though what they taught, that I followed and passed on, was in opposition to Your Word, instead of following YOU and what YOU established. But, hey, God, you understand, don't you? Grace covers that doesn't it? But then to hear HIM say, "Depart from ME you who practice lawlessness, I never knew you," how's that going to work? You make your stand and build your house on the sand of men's doctrine instead of the Rock of The Truth of the Word, Torah of Yahweh, that is the True Living Word, Yeshua Messiah! The Pharisaical position was/is like yours, not mine! They sought to keep people in bondage of the additions and subtractions to Scripture! Torah is the "perfect Law of Liberty," not bondage. Bondage is to sin - lawlessness, and we've been set free from lawlessness. John said, "Sin is lawlessness." Yeshua/Jesus said, "Depart from ME you who practice lawlessness!"

Obedience to HIM is paramount over all. HE said the poor you will always have with you. HE said that we are to seek first HIS kingdom and it's righteousness (Torah is the standard) and HE would see to it that we have what we need. In HIM is everything we need for life and godliness, not in commandments and doctrines of men (Col 2) that have "no effect over the indulgences of the flesh."

HIS promise of blessing is through obedience to the Truth - Torah! HIS promise of cursing is through disobedience to the same (Deuteronomy and throughout). We don't possess autonomy to determine what is acceptable to HIM. HE already told us!

You accuse me of rebellion and spewing venom and "pet foolish religious issues." Sir you have described yourself and your response to my post!

Secondly, unless you have a Bible that reads differently, the Sabbath of Scripture is not the Jewish Sabbath! IT IS YAHWEH'S Sabbath. That is contextually accurate throughout Scripture! So are the Feast of Yahweh; they are not the feasts of the Jews!

The lie of the enemy from the beginning is to add to or subtract and man in his arrogance buys right into it.

No sir I do not respect the church fathers who loved, practiced and taught a lie to the bride of Messiah! You speak of their martyrdom? How about what Paul said to those he wrote to (that'd be me and you too). You stiff necked you killed the prophets. Why because they preached a repentance to Torah, as did Paul and the Messiah and every writer in the entire canon of Scripture.

No sir, I am not a respecter of persons. I seek not to come alongside historical church lies from Constantine, Augustine and many others and even those in the practices of the Jewish sages. I seek to follow the Almighty Awesome and Just ONE, Yahweh, and HIS Son Yeshua Messiah! I echo, Joshua's words when he tells the assembly to do whatever seems right to them, but as for "me and my house we will serve Yahweh and Yahweh alone!" The Scripture is clear! When a man chooses to do what is right in his own eyes he chooses death! Your choice. Repent to the Truth, keep the commandments and live (the right to the Tree of Life) or continue in rebellion and die apart from Yahweh (those on the outside are those who love and practice a lie)! See Revelation 22 for this application.

Genesis saw man removed from access to the Tree of Life due to disobedience to Yahweh's commandments, and Revelation says the only way to regain access is through repentance to keeping the commandments. Your choice!!!!Banner Kiddhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00578111747056637435noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8958795439333288213.post-28644099933371866132008-04-29T11:38:00.000-04:002008-04-29T11:38:00.000-04:00re: Banner KidBrilliant... You are worried about the appropriate day of worship when condoms are being passed out in schools, over a million babies die in America each year through abortion and our world desperately needs Jesus more than ever. You don't encourage readers of this blog to celebrate what you agree with, you spew your venom against your pet foolish religious issue. Pharasees never change.

I respect the Lord's Day tradition of two thousand years of Christianity and do not wish to break fellowship with the historical Church. If it were not for the early Church fathers, many of whom were martyred for this faith, none of us would even have a Bible so there would not even be a messianic movement. So your lack of respect for the fathers and your refusal to be associated with the historic church reveals your rebellious and ungrateful nature.

Really, the sensibility of moving the day of worship to the first day, the Lord's Day, to respect the resurrection of Jesus Christ is simply wonderful. It is to say, on one hand, that we are not under the ceremonial Jewish law anymore by adhering to their particular day, and on the other hand, to respect the spirit of the law by honoring Jesus' resurrection is truly an awesome statement. I wish I'd thought of it!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8958795439333288213.post-92161394016028393042008-04-29T09:55:00.000-04:002008-04-29T09:55:00.000-04:00Sir, you are effecting many with your teaching. Yahweh will always accept a broken and contrite heart of repentance!Banner Kiddhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00578111747056637435noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8958795439333288213.post-39790466080148681432008-04-29T09:53:00.000-04:002008-04-29T09:53:00.000-04:00"The early Christians moved their day of observati..."The early Christians moved their day of observation to the first day of the week, the Lord’s Day, to memorialize Jesus resurrection from the dead, but continued the ancient tradition."

Please, may I draw your attention to your words, "The early Christians moved their day..." This is adding to and subtracting from HIS Word that He forbade in Torah! Yahweh has not moved HIS Day! Christians have moved their day! Sabbath is an eternal commandment and the Sabbath of Yahweh, HIS day, "the LORD'S Day" is the seventh day! No man has any authority to change it and the futile attempt is not only breaking the commandment to keep the Sabbath, but it is breaking all the rest as well. Man just placed himself on the throne, putting a god before Yahweh! Man just took HIS Name in vain, professing godliness, denying the power and trusting in his own subjective thinking rather than the established truth of Yahweh's Word! Man has lied, saying Sabbath is on the venerable day of the sun god Mithra! Please rethink! Repent! Come out of Babylon into the glorious Light of Torah! It is the foundation for Messiah! Apart from the pure unleavened Torah you will get a picture of a messiah that is not the Messiah, just as people have done since the beginning! Yeshua is Messiah! See HIM for who HE is in Torah and the Feasts of Yahweh, including Sabbath. You will never find HIM in the pagan practices of Sun worship; Sunday veneration, Christmas, Easter, Lent, etc.....!Banner Kiddhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00578111747056637435noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8958795439333288213.post-85879904506926430812007-11-24T18:21:00.000-05:002007-11-24T18:21:00.000-05:00Thank you for your words of wisdom!Thank you for your words of wisdom!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8958795439333288213.post-5069024981403635982007-11-09T06:41:00.000-05:002007-11-09T06:41:00.000-05:00Wow, I was so convicted when I read this article. ...Wow, I was so convicted when I read this article.
